The South Carolina Drone Initiative was designed to change the disparities and talent gaps associated with the commercial drone industry while preparing South Carolina to become a workforce development ecosystem for the industry. The initiative focuses on five core pillars designed to position you to secure future opportunities associated with the (Unmanned Aerial Systems) UAS industry.
The SC Drone Initiative provides you skills and certifications to secure innovative careers of the future within the drone industry.
Farming
Farm 50 focuses on exposing skills training and certification preparation to precision or smart farming associated with autonomous systems (drones) to Farmers and Ranchers categories: minority, new farmers, and the millennial generation (ages 34 and under).
Women In drones
Women represent a small portion of the drone industry. Women in Drones targets women ages 18 – 35 and provides certification preparation and skills training related to autonomous systems.
first Responders
Providing opportunities for public services agencies; Law Enforcement, EMS, or Fire Departments, the opportunities to expand and multiply their service areas using autonomous devices.

Providing opportunities for public services agencies; Law Enforcement, EMS, or Fire Departments, the opportunities to expand and multiply their service areas using autonomous devices.
HBCU soars
HBCU Soars targets Historically Black Colleges and Universities scholars to promote STEM Fields associated with autonomous devices. The program will provide certification training and capstone opportunities.
Small businesses
The small business owners pillar targets disadvantaged businesses or businesses with less than 100 employees. The initiative provides skills enhancement, development, and certification preparation opportunities to help businesses become more competitive within their prospective industries through autonomous devices.
